Selection of Fixed Income Securities

• To protect your principal, our investment managers restrict their security selections to investment grade corporate obligations and obligations of the U.S. Government and its agencies. We do not speculate in non-investment grade bonds.
• Additionally, our managers usually select securities that will mature in a short to intermediate time frame, to reduce price fluctuations when interest rates change rapidly. When rates do change, there is a danger that a large portion of the fixed income securities will mature when rates are low. We guard against this by buying a selection of notes and bonds that mature at different times.

Selection of Equities

• Equity selection is focused on individual companies that have shown above-average growth, predictable earnings, and superior financial strength.
• Our managers support their decisions with in-depth analysis that sorts and screens over 4,500 stocks to compare each company's financial results to historical results and to results from other companies in the same industry. This enables us to establish realistic expectations for future growth and then track actual trends against these expectations.
