Michael S. Lares

Michael S. Lares joined Chemung Canal Trust Company in January 2004 as a Portfolio Manager. He has an MBA in Finance from St Johns University in New York, Tobin School of Business. He was elected Assistant Vice President in 2005, and was promoted to Vice President in 2010, where his duties included portfolio management, technical analysis, and has also included extensive work with both not-for-profits and retirement plans.  Michael is currently working with Wealth Management clients and institutions in his function as Relationship Manager, utilizing his analytical skills and broad financial experience.

Michael also is a graduate of NYBA Trust Investment School, and is currently attending the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania and the American College. He is active in the community, serving as an Executive Board Member and Treasurer for the Chemung County Historical Society, is a Board member for the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, is on the finance and festival committees of St. Mary’s Church in Elmira, and is a youth sports official in the area.
